"Um... you might scream at the other half, and I really don't think a store is a good place to show you," he said nervously. I'm a monster, he thought to himself. And, in reality, he was. The other half of his blood was a demon that would be damned to the depths of hell, and how he only wished it were easier to get there than it was.
Trying to breathe, he inserted to answer her first question, "And it acts up if I'm anxious, and will spark without reason. It'd be worse if I didn't have these on." He lifted one of his hands and showed the obsidian leather glove that covered it.
Shifting his weight to one leg, he hoped she wouldn't completely freak out. If she did, he wasn't sure what he'd do. He had hoped she'd trust him a bit more before he had to admit to what he was. Basically a hybrid of a creature and a demon, but that was beside his point.

Stubborn and determined as she always was, Elona dropped the shopping list, letting it flutter aimlessly to the ground. Then she grabbed Duivel's hand and progressed to drag him out of the store none too gently. You'd better show me somewhere else, then. You've already proved that you're not trying to hurt me, so it won't kill you to be honest. She said the words with a gruff tone, but there was a hint of softness hidden somewhere. Elona only wanted the truth.
They came to the street, and Elona swore angrily at the busy traffic. She wasn't a very patient girl, and when things didn't go how she wanted them to, she had three main reactions. 1) Cuss. 2) Demand her way. 3) Fly into a rage.
But considering none of these options would help them much, she would just have to wait.
You sure you can't show me here? Elona tried. I mean... how bad can it be? People won't notice... "Maybe..."

"Well," he said, thinking, "the worst that could happen is people in cars would see it, stop paying attention, and cause a massive explosion from crashing into other cars. The least that would happen is anyone nearby might scream and call the police." Wings are not normal, she'll probably even scream.
He glanced around, looking for an alternate route. Sadly, he was less familiar with this area than he had originally thought. "We could try dodging traffic, but I don't think that'd work out very well," he commented, knowing it wouldn't work at all. He couldn't even dodge something that fast unless he grew out his wings, and then all he had to do was fly over it.
{ Sorry if you didn't mean car traffic. xD; That's what I think when people say it. }

(( No, that's exactly what I mean, don't worry. XD ))
Okay, I see your point, Elona grumbled ungraciously. She slammed the button on the pole of the traffic light down and folded her arms haughtily as she waited for the sign to show that she and Duivel could cross. How she hated these things so much. That was why she didn't have much experience with them - Judy drove her everywhere and she took the school bus to get to her daily prison.
Finally, the light flashed and the could move; Elona hurried onto the crosswalk, beckoning for Duivel to follow. She was very curious about him now - more curious than afraid, more interested than pissed off (which was rare).

Trailing after her, he could feel the rate of his heart speeding -- wait, he had a heart, right? I couldn't even remember. His mind was blurry and the blood in his veins was rushing through his head, pounding in his temples. What would she think? She had already been taken off-guard by the electricity.
If she thought that was shocking, though, she hadn't seen anything. But that made him worry more. Would she know what an Incubus was? Would she back away and run, fearful of what he'd do? How would she react to him having wings? There were so many questions, and all he could do was follow and glance anxiously at her with his golden voids.

Soon they came to an alleyway. Elona glanced briefly in to check that they'd be alone - except for the occasional rodent - and grabbed onto Duivel's sleeve, yanking him in. When she was settled, she turned expectantly to her companion.
Okay, you can show me whatever it is now, Elona said. Now she was waiting, her attention was caught, and she wasn't about to take no for an answer.

As he gazed at her now, he bit down onto his lower lip. There was no way he'd be able to back out of this since he had accidentally sparked in a store, and she looked at him with such expectation. But how would she react to a creature like him? Something so completely demonic he looked like Satan himself? Drawing in a breath, he murmured, "Please don't scream."
Compared to how they normally ripped from his skull and shoulder blade, this procedure was slow. The obsidian, bat-like wings that you'd find on a dragon emerged from their places, their lone lightning bolt streaks across them. His heartbeat jumped up an octave, and as he opened his eyes, he prepared for an ear-shattering screech that would let him know he was a freak.

Elona had always known she was different than most people her age. She hadn't been into perfect hair - only dye - or makeup - only extensive eyeliner - or designer clothes - only unique, "gothic" style ones - but she was also isolated in emotions and personality. Elona had never really been "preppy", but as a little girl she had certainly been bubbly; happier. She had changed when her tiny family had been shattered.
So that explained why her reaction to Duivel's transformation was so odd.
First, she covered her shocked lips with a stifling hand; then she muttered Holy shit, and looked at Duivel in a new light.
She found it... cool, in a way. Creepy, but cool. Like a vampire or a zombie - though it was rude to compare someone to such creatures.
Wow, was all she could manage with a blink. Now I see why you didn't want to show me in the store.

Drawing in a breath and praying he lived through this, he collected his thoughts to form a sensible sentence. "If something makes me nervous or otherwise causes my heart to beat too fast, it generates more electricity than usual and sometimes sparks even though wearing leather gloves helps keep it from being deadly. It's actually like that for all Elementalists, and many wear gloves to be able to control how much power they put into their attack." He paused now, gazing at the ground and fiddling with his gloves as he spoke of them. Then, he sighed.
"Don't scream. Just please, don't scream," he pleaded, his golden eyes shutting. Slowly, a light formed from his skull. Two black wings that looked like a dragon's emerged from his head, a yellow streak running down both of them. Another set of wings that were much larger erupted silently from his shoulder blades, stretching out behind him. His voids opened then, expecting her to be either gone, or for her to soon turn and run.

Elona stared, stunned silent at Duivel's sudden appearance of wings - and two sets of them, at that. She marveled, completely awed - and Elona didn't get struck by wonder just for no reason, or completely randomly, so this was quite unordinary - as her softening eyes - another unordinary thing! - traced the lines of his wings and examined them. She was overcome with a sudden urge to reach out and touch them, to see if they felt like the leathery dragon wings she'd always imagined when fantasy came to her, but the thought was too embarrassing to actually go through with it.
I'm not screaming and I'm not running, she said firmly a moment later, when she was finished gawking in amazement. I think it's cool, this... uh... thing about you. She wasn't entirely sure how to describe it, and when one is in doubt, one should refer to the subject in question as a thing, she reasoned hopefully. I'd rather be unusual than human. Humans are so boring, not to mention idiotic.

He had to give her a smile from her words, the action lighting up some of the features of his face. "Ah, you are of the first," he told her, nearly a bit too enthusiastically. "Last time, they screamed and it echoed because the room reflected the sound. It was enough to give you a migraine. You are truly something else, Lady Elona," he finished, bowing slightly to her.
Duivel stretched out his wings, the membrane seeming to grow. It began becoming a bit translucent, extended to its full length, causing it to actually go past Elona. "Between the Phalanges, or wing bones, it's a bit rougher than on the back where there are scales."

Elona couldn't hold it back - at hearing Duivel refer to her as Lady Elona, she blushed. Her pallid cheeks took on a rouge shade as though she had applied makeup there - which she hadn't. Elona loved eyeliner and sometimes lipstick, but she never used blush. She prefered to be pale, though nobody else could really understand this concept - but when had someone understood her, anyway? It was nothing new.
Temptation overcoming awkwardness, Elona laid her hand on the edge of Duivel's wing. It was rough and leathery, yet entirely entrancing. This is so cool, she gushed in a very out-of-character manner. Elona was not one to gush, but this was a special occasion. She glanced at Duivel, a shy smile on her lips.

He chuckled as she spoke her words, a grin plastered completely over his mouth. "I take it you've never taken the liberty of seeing someone with real wings around here before. I suppose I did come too near human territory again. Oh well," he said, shrugging off his mistake.
His eyes regarded her gently, and his wing relaxed, becoming slightly limp. It had been a long while since someone found them interesting and not just creepy. Had she not been so close to it, or touching it for that matter, he could have lit his wings with lightning. "They make it so I can fly, as well. How much those humans out there would freak out, though... 'Oh my God! What is that? Is it Superman? No, no, it has to be a monster, Superman doesn't have wings!'" he mimicked, then gazed to Elona to make sure he had not offended her with this.

Elona laughed - when was the last time she had laughed fully, with cheerful emotion as she realized that life didn't always suck? It had to have been quite a while - and tentatively ran her thumb along the side of his wing. Flying would be sweet, though, she said fervently. I'd love to fly sometime, if only I had wings, too, which, sadly, I don't. Elona smiled. She hadn't talked this much for a long time.
So... were you born this way, or what? Elona questioned, hoping she wasn't crossing a line. She was pretty curious about this topic, and it was unusual, obviously, but it interested and fascinated her. If something was out of the ordinary, there was a good chance that Elona would find it cool.

"Yes, though my wings didn't grow in until I was seven, and my electrical powers were a bit edgy until I was ten. If I didn't hate them, I would have felt sorry for all the orphanage assistants that got electrocuted. They didn't die, it wasn't powerful enough to kill them, but they were stunned for a good few hours." He chortled at the memory, and of the startled look on their faces every time he couldn't control it. It hadn't been too bad back then, and he hadn't been alone. Just sought out.
It feels so good to my wing for someone to be just touching it... is that normal? he wondered to himself, peering toward her. Waiting until he was sure she would see it, he exhaled like one would if they were blowing a smoke ring. A spark of electricity formed, crackling into the form of a heart before dispersing into the ground.
