A boy gazed up into the dark dome of glimmering specks above him. The night breeze was cool against his skin as it ambled past. But this wasn't a time for him to be gazing up into the night. He was out here for a reason much more important than stargazing tonight.
His hand flicked out a silver pocket watch, the face of the tiny clock glowing azure as he flipped back the top. It was very late, and it should be around the time the new recruit would come. Aruna, he believed the gryphon's name was.
This boy, Duivel, wiped his obsidian hair out of his golden-gray eyes. The maize streak tangled with the mass of the rest of his locks, causing him to just give up on fixing it. It would be forever untamed at this rate, and no brush had ever been able to come close to getting it to stay right.
After this little distraction, he righted himself on the window sill he perched upon. The glass had long ago fallen out of it, giving him a perfect place to watch for new members. He lifted his gaze to the unkempt meadow that stretched around the warehouse then, waiting for a sign...
