Dark talons clawed at the soil, trunks of bronze passing on either side as they frowned down at the world below. A light fog rolled from the nares of the brute as his livid, emerald right orb glowed in the shadows the trees provided as a single orange leaf dropped in front of him. Bending his nape, the brute sniffed cautiously at the leaf, as if it were an explosive that would rip the pelt from his muzzle.
Finding nothing wrong with it, his long beige limbs started forward again, dial high, voids fixed ahead. The silver of his pelage glimmered from the thin beams of sunlight that broke through the canopy on the cool autumn day. A light zephyr even ruffled up the fleece of the lupe, causing a faint grin over his maw before he quickly replaced it with a scowl.
He halted in his travels at last, harks pinned forward as the mascu listened for any sudden sound. Bristles formed upon his serpentine, only because he was alert to an extreme that was paranoia. His aft stiffened, pistons locking, pads firmly upon the terra firma. A long optic swept over the area, waiting, watching...

A growl erupted from the boa of the stag, the lone amber pool of colour falling upon the femme. His other would have, had it been frozen in time and blind to anything to the right of his form. The whipcord of the wolf fluffed in spikes as the she-wolf drew near, his anxiety of human blood being about to an all time high.
"My purpose is not of the concern of any other when I plan not to be in this area long," he concluded with another snarl at her, both optics wide in irritation. The brute studied her closely, trying to pick out her origin; sinister or moral, frail, unbiased. But he found nothing through the pricks of memory that jogged his faded thoughts.
The tassel of the mascu was parallel with the ground, his spine arched and crown low, as if he were ready to attack. Rims lifted from his ivory razors, which gritted as the rumbling continued.

A snort filled the air as the brute lifted his crania, composing his pillars so that they weren't so far from each other, bringing him to a fuller height. "Though it is not important the name of I, I am called Ulric," retorted the lupe, plume never relaxing as he regarded her carefully. He knew well that letting down a guard can be death.
Death or injury, anyway. His spurs of the ebony shade dug particularly into the ground now, ripping up the dirt beneath the pads of his feet. Shoulder blades falling back in a position he'd normally use to seem larger than an opponent, his optics sized up the fae. It was unlikely in his mind that she posed too much threat.
Still, a growl remained lodged in his throat, ready for usage. After coming up and not seeing her as he should have, an agitation had formed that she had been watching or following him. Assumptions he could not yet make, however, and he quickly dismissed it to press, "And who might a fatale such as you be?"

He observed her actions closely, pools narrowed as he awaited a creature on two legs to pop out and for it all to be a trick. When this did not happen for several moments, the bristles settled back onto his pelt, but he did not relax his muscles in the least. "Are humans nearby?" he questioned, asking suspiciously and putting a bitter edge to the word humans.
It was not that he wished to have to return to details of a life long since past for him, he merely wanted to avoid the steal link fences and iron cages that bothered his fangs and tasted worse than it smelled. His one eye gazed around swiftly for a sign of a tranquilizer gun or net, even just one of the humans themselves.

Gradually, he settled back on his haunches and wrapped his whipcord about his left hind leg. "No," he replied to her question. "I am a loner at this time, and have been for a long time now. Never have I run across a pack, never have I joined one." He caused his words to become softer as he spoke, starting to calm as the idea of the two legged beasts being far from here reassured him.
The brute's back maintained a stiff position and his harks were erect, his voids on her the whole time. He was still trying to decide if she were friend or foe, sweet or cunning like a fox. The idea of tasting the blood trickling down his throat, belonging to what once was a fox, was a wonderful idea in his mind, but he put it off. Hunger could wait.

"Walking," he stated simply. "I've come up through the Grasslands and other areas to here, where I'm continuing north away from the facility where I was held for much of my younger days." That had to be the shortest way to explain he was released but still wanted, with a tiny band of a golden hue strapped about his left fore-paw. He hadn't given them time to remove it when the cage was opened and he burst out.
The brute heaved a breath from his mouth, orbs concealed behind pelted lids. A breeze caught under his fur and ruffled it again, making his eyes open. His right eye was gleaming in its light jade shade, glowing as it always did from the inability to see with it.

Dipping his head in an awkward way of showing respect, he confided, "I prefer not to gain the pity or sympathy of another, but it have taken me a few days to reach here, maybe twenty or maybe less. You lose count, when you try to push yourself to the edge." He ended his explanation to recall what she had asked earlier, deciding to pursue her now.
"What was the reason you inquired if I were part of a pack, Haruka?" The question rolled off his tongue in an eerily calm way, which he himself had not expected. He was still suspicious of her, and was not sure what to make of her appearance so suddenly.

A patch of fur about his right optic rose. "An alphess asking one who growled at her still offering the notion of a pack? Never heard of it before. Tell me a bit about this pack you speak of, the terrain and its members."
He hadn't completely said no, nor had he agreed. Instead he was seeking the information about it, thinking it may lead him back to his father and siblings. That, and it'd be easier than wandering aimlessly around all the time. He hadn't really even a clue where he was, causing his auds to twitch nervously when even the faintest sound of a leaf falling caught in his ears.

Instead of listening to her mention of his freedom, he continued to press, "What are the names of the members?" The brute couldn't help but get the feeling she was dodging the answer to it, and he wanted to know if it was only just starting or if it were actually a pack with the betas and such already.
He moved his banner from his left side to wrap around his right hing leg, slowly and in a rather lax way. It no longer bothered him to be sitting here, conversing with one he knew little of. Actually, the brute questioned if his personality would be accepted in a pack anyway, since he trusted very few, and even fewer knew everything about him.

Contemplating the idea, his whipcord swished back and forth, a habit for when he was pondering something. He thought about the ups and downs of a pack, of being ordered around yet still being free when it was time to hunt. In the middle of this, a mouse squeaked, scampering across the grounds. Standing, the mascu trained his eyes on the mouse, then pounced on it. Its tail became caught beneath his clawed paw, and his jaws snapped down around the nape of the tiny creature.
Picking it up, he trotted over to her, dropped the rodent, then stepped a few paces more so he was behind her. "You got yourself a wolf. Just show me where I'm going. Never heard of the forest you're talking about in all my life." His dial turned and he glanced over his shoulder with a grin across his maw, his lone amber eye glimmering as he waited her reaction.
