"Maybe the cat will find a nice place to curl up at the Mistress' feet," Apocalypse told her, making a light purring sound in his throat. He strode into the room, turning back to leave a kiss upon her cheek as he winked. A light smile also played upon his lips, his actions taking to sitting on the floor and looking up at her as if he were a cat.

"This cat has his own bed though," Amara said curling up into her bed quietly. She threw the covers over her torso, and nestled her head underneath the blanket. She was wearing jeans, in bed.

"Perhaps the cat wants to be near the Mistress." To make a point, he got up to stride to the side of the bed, then sprawled out beside it. Gazing up, he could see the ceiling and the side of the bed, but not her. Though, the thought of her being just a sit-up away was enough to sustain the fact he could not readily see her.
The floor was carpeted, but still hard beneath him. He had to force the smile to stay on his face, since he was uncomfortable as ever. It was like a rock -- only covered with grass that didn't help any. Sleeping on the floor was out, and he knew it, but games must last as long as possible.

She looked down at him. "Goodnight," she said sprawling under the covers again. She closed her lilac eyes and started to dose off. She slightly hummed in her sleep, but that was her wheezy breath, being in a building that might have dust was making her sick, she might be allergic to dust for all we knew.

Getting up from the floor and dusting off, he gazed down at her, laying on the bed. "Not going to bolt out the door the moment the sun comes up, are you?" he asked in teasing skepticism. Lightly, he sat on the edge of the bed, watching her carefully. He knew he'd never get a good night's sleep in this place. There was a window not far off, and he'd be up past dawn making sure Killian didn't break through it and come after Amara again.
The though nearly made him shudder, the images of Killian caring Amara away. Had she not woken up, he wasn't sure where they'd be right now. And he had been careless, dozing in a forest next to a loud and murky spring-like water source. Though, it looked much more related to tar than water. Apocalypse wanted her to be safe, and he wanted only what she wished:
Not to fight in this war. Either of them. Though for him to not fight in it she had never voiced, he himself found it pointless.

Amara peeked from under the covers. "What are you talking about? Why in hell would I run when I have what I want, sitting in front of me?" She made it quite clear she wasn't planning on going anywhere, that was for sure.

Apocalypse gave her a light smile, his frosty eyes warming gently as he reached out a hand. The tips of his fingers brushed against her cheek, the feel of her skin beneath his own sending an eerie warmth through his arctic temperatured body, the heat curling within his somehow beating heart. Perhaps, just perhaps, things could find some sort of usual path.
Unlikely, but he still hoped. "Just asking," he murmured, as if anything louder would cause the ceiling to crash down around them."Good night, Amara." With a final kiss to her cheek, he stood from the inn bed. Straightening his composure and giving her one last glance, he tread quietly toward his own bed.

She smiled and started to doze off. Her face went into an incontrollable, weak smile, and her dreams finally became happy ones. She slipped off her shoes and kicked them off her bed from under her covers. Finally, with one last sigh, she went into a deep sleep.

Settling onto the bed on the other side of the room, he watched her thoughtfully. He was edgy, watching anxiously for something to go wrong. It would be a fear of his now, that if one wasn't awake then something would go terribly wrong. And Apocalypse didn't want anything to happen to Amara, she was too precious to him. She meant too much for him to lose.
The thought of Killian taking her, tormenting her into a war... He couldn't bear that. He'd rather it be him that her. If it kept her safe, he'd be a traitor to his own element, just to protect her. Then he sighed. She meant so much to him, but could he really protect her? He pondered it over and over, his eyes never leaving her.

Amara started to have nightmares, you could just tell by looking around her, all the shadows became scary things, like, things you wouldn't usually see coming from a shadow. Tears ran down her face, as she tossed and turned over and over again.
She was having a nightmare about what happened to her parents. She let out a death curdling scream and sat up, her head down, black tear stains and black tears slithering down her pale peach hued cheecks.

The lids over his turquoise eyes shot up, his dozing state shattered by the screech. He didn't need to hear it twice; he was over to her in record timing. Swiftly, one arm found its way around her waist, his other lifting to catch one of the ebony tears. The features of his face were distorted with worry from her actions and expression.
"Amara?" His voice was soft, etched with worry. "What's wrong? What happened?"

"It's nothing, I'm sorry," she said, ters rapidly falling down from her face. She hadn't had that dream in ages, and now, it was back. That certain dream had haunted her for 7 years, and stopped 2 months ago, life is never perfect. "Just nightmares," she whispered.

"It's not nothing if it has this effect on you," he murmured, reaching over to the nightstand beside the bed. With a swift flick, he plucked a tissue from the container, then brought it to her cheek to dry her face. Gently, his lips pressed against her temple, the words still soft as he tried to calm her. "It's going to be alright. Do you want water or anything?" His own hands trembled when he pressed the tissue to clear away her tears, startled by such a violent reaction.

"No, I'm fine, but thanks," she said kissing his cheeck softly, she smiled and burried the top of her head into his neck, wrapping her arms around his rib cage softly.

Tossing the tissue into a waste basket nearby, he wrapped one arm around her waist securely. His other hand stroked her back, still fearful of what the nightmare had been about. What could have made her scream like that? "Okay," he whispered, gently. "I don't take it you're going to be able to fall asleep again anytime soon, though."
