{ I just now got that, but XD Yes, I must agree with Gina! }
Rafe could feel the chuckle that rumbled in his throat, understanding what Rian meant even though the prince himself did not understand it. "Sounds sort of like what they used to preach to me about the 'growing older' subject." The livid rims that made up his mouth tilted toward the heavens. "When you're sixteen and a loup-garoux, the idea is the last thing on your mind," said he, lifting his frame on his ebony pillars and beginning to pace around.
Rafe paused once to explain to Rian, "I cannot stay still very long, or I become fidgety and restless."

"Hm," Rian said in response, frowning at the loup-garoux's first words. "I never really thought of it like that." He shrugged, blushing slightly, and moved on to another topic.
"I guess that's what running's good for, then. It gets rid of all that pent-up energy, right?" reasoned he. When Rian was restless, that was usually when he took his longer walks, sometimes down to the White Sea, which took hours if you merely ambled along, and still a lengthy time even if you were fastwalking.

"Yes, that is also what back flips are for, but it is simple to see that in this form I must refrain from trying human actions such as those unless I wish to risk the breaking of a foreleg," replied Rafe, bowing his head to indicate a nod. "It is not an intellectual move to make, if you know within the next few seconds you may have to dart off from the cackle of hooves or boots, to other mindless things."
The brute was beginning to confuse himself with the way he worded his sentences, yet he made sense in his mind as well. Making a few trots around the tree and prince, he finally settled back down by the boy's feet, as a dog would his master. Only, Rafe refused to be owned by anyone, and it was a mere gesture of acceptance for him.

Rian grinned with amusement, and also pleasure at how Rafe sat. It was very cheering to have someone to talk to who didn't regard him as a Prince, and instead - as an acquaintance, or maybe even a friend. "Can you really do a backflip?" he queried. "I wish I could."
The Prince hadn't exactly been blessed with the gift of flexibility, though he was reasonably physically fit. It was hard to be lazy when you lived in Falingah, no matter your status or title. The outside world was just so much more beautiful and entertaining than inside the buildings.

Lifting up an eyelid that had slid shut, a smile cut across the muzzle of Rafe. "I could last week, should be able to now." Getting to his paws, he let the bright hue-less light engulf his form -- he seemed to be doing this a lot today -- and emerge the raven haired teen he had revealed to Rian he could become. Inhaling, voids closing, he paused to add to the drama before springing backward, landing upon his hands then pushing back to his feet, then repeating the motion several times before stopping, staggering sideways.
"Alright, now I'm dizzy." And, plopping back down beside Rian, he rubbed his head, the world spinning.

Rian laughed in delight, crying out, "Wow, and I didn't believe you at first," as he grinned widely. It was fairly entertaining to watch someone do a backflip, particularly if that someone had to switch forms from wolf to human in the process.
"Think you could teach me?" He half joked, but he was a bit serious, even if he didn't show it. It'd be kind of cool to come home and backflip around the castle. His mother would certainly stare.

A chuckle escaped Rafe's throat, and he told the young prince, "If you wish for me to, then sure. Just let the world stop spinning, it always does if I back-flip more than twice. Something about blood rushing to your head or something. I don't know, I never really paid attention when people tried to explain things like that to me." Settling back onto the grass, his voids were veiled by his eyelids. His lips were set in a grin, his head throbbing.
"Might hit your head the first time, though," he warned, watching to see if Rian would back down from a challenge. "Sometimes I do that anyway though, normally makes people laugh when I screw up a back-flip."

"I don't care, I'll get used to it," Rian assured him. "Show me, please!" He couldn't back down now; not that he wanted to in the slightest. Rian's competitive nature cropped up at the most random times; it liked to hide for things that were really important, but with other stuff like this, it never failed to show itself.

Rafe had to smile at the enthusiasm, and gave a nod of his head to indicate he'd show him. "Alright, but it's hard to do a back flip sitting down." And, springing onto his feet, he bowed to the young prince. "It is much easier when you may use your legs in order to jump back," he added as an explanation, "and sitting down you have a much better chance of breaking your nose. It's not a pleasant feeling, breaking your nose. It pops and crackles and you may move it in strange directions that you could not before."

"I'd prefer not to experience that," Rian informed him with a grin. "I think I like my nose to be stationary and not moving around on my face. That'd be... disconcerting." Unusual words sometimes popped out from him, words you didn't usually hear from a ten year old, but his parents were full of them - at least his mom was - and he seemed to have inherited her immense vocabulary.

Rafe raised an eyebrow, commenting, "Large vocabulary. You sure you're only a kid?" It had been a while -- a long while, at that -- since Rafe had met anyone who could make simple sentences sound that complex. And from someone younger than him? Gee, he didn't even have that much of a vocabulary. It was insane to his mind that Rian knew words like that, but he brushed it off quickly to keep from seeming startled.

"Don't remind me," he said moodily, his smile vanishing as he kicked at a nearby stone with a slight temper. "I've heard it before." He couldn't really say it was something he was proud of, to have that vocabulary...
For one thing, his mother fussed endlessly about it - she really could be exceedingly tiresome at times - and he knew his father liked it, too. Rian liked to please his parents, especially his father, but not with brains - weren't Princes supposed to be brawny? Considering that he possessed giant blood, Rian was quite formidable - he was taller than the average ten year old human (not that there were any pure humans around) and much more muscular, but still, he wasn't proud of his spontaneous super-intelligent moments. His friends snickered at his behaviour, and if there was one thing Rian loathed, it was to be laughed at.

"Whoa, whoa. Okay, chill Ri, didn't mean to insult you." Rafe held up his hands as if a cop had commanded him to. "It isn't that bad being intelligent, is it? I've always been told I haven't a brain larger than a grain of sand." That had to be his father's favourite expression for him all those years ago. Doesn't have a brain larger than a grain of sand.
To keep it off a completely serious note, Rafe attempted a no-hands cartwheel, failed, then just did a regular one after riding his obsidian hair of the dirt specks. Princes, he reasoned, didn't need to be serious all the time... he surely knew he was hardly ever looking at things without a joking light.

Rian bit down on his bottom lip and tasted blood. Perhaps his words had come out harsher and crueler than he had originally intended. That's how stereotypes begin, he reminded himself. That's why everyone ended up hating giants and part-giants. Even if he was only a part-part-part-part giant, in a sense, he still considered himself one of them.
"I disagree with whoever told you that," he said, finding his voice amidst all his deep thinking. "I'd say that anyone whose brain is smaller than a grain of sand is probably a lesser creature, like a worm, and you don't look very wormlike to me." He gave a serious nod as if he really meant it sincerely.

"I don't know if I can turn into a worm. I've never tried..." And, when he did, he found himself still human, with the same deep green eyes and ebony hair. "Guess not."
His shoulders lifted in a shrug then, as grin forming on his lips as he gazed at Rian. "I did some pretty stupid things before, I deserved the name. I still haven't found my sister either... we split up soon after I came to these lands." The explanation contorted his smile and turned it solemn as he remembered. It had been long ago now, but it was still fresh in his mind.
