Jonathan had always liked high places.
He couldn't really explain why; there was just some inexplicable and fairly weird attraction to height that lingered in his being. You'd assume that it'd be the other way around, with him being so tall; you'd think that he'd be sick of always looking down at everything, but if you did, you'd be wrong. Jonathan felt strangely relaxed when he was up high, but he told few people this. It sounded odd.
Blinking up blearily at the hot sun, Jonathan tried to get more comfortable on the rocky cliff. He had climbed up pretty high, he realized mildly, not really taking in this information. At this point in his life, he was in the middle of a series of nasty conflicts with his wife and tended to - in a cowardly manner - leave the house a lot to get away. It was not the best way to deal with things and he knew it, but he just didn't have the patience to argue today.

Lorelei, was sick of being, your average, 20 year old student. She had taken some barely noticable trail all the way up the mountain. Her abuburn hair was tied into a ponytail, as her shoulder rose so much, she looked as if she had no neck.
She stood tall at 5'8", well, not really tall. She was a loner, not very friendly, but once you got to know her, she wasn't half bad, HALF BAD! She didn't notice Jonathan as she trudged up in his direction.

The telltale sound of footsteps was audible to Jonathan, but he hardly moved. He had no problem with the presence of others; he worked with them all day and was generally pretty social. You had to be experienced with such encounters when your co-workers were grumpy, sarcastic half-giants, for the most part, who didn't approve of you as the King, didn't particularly like your wife or son, either, and seemed to enjoy the thought of the whole royal family being thrown out of the province.
With a slight sigh, Jonathan sat up, curious as to who else was crazy enough to scale these mountains and for what purpose.

She didn't really care if he was there, she just kept on going forward, her eyes closed. She sighed as the trudged forward, tired, and weary. She started to feel sick to her stomach, but didn't care to bother herself about it. She wasn't like that at all.
Her auburn hair was bugging her, so sxhe topped and placed it into a ponytail.

It was a girl; actually, she was older than a girl, more like a young woman, possibly around Jonathan's age. He watched her walk on, eyes closed as though she were blind, yet every move was perfectly executed. She did not trip or even falter. His curiousity roused, Jonathan called out, Hey!
He wasn't sure what he planned on saying - not that it mattered. Jonathan never really obsessed over details like that. He just got the job done.

She opened her eyes in a bored fashion. "Yes?" She said instinctivly, it was a habit if someone called to her for her to say yes? Her sapphire eyes laid themselves upon him. He was around her age, maybe a few years older, she could never really tell age by looks.
Her feet stopped in their tracks, and her torso turned to face him.

Jonathan frowned. The person didn't look too eager to start a conversation. She reminded him of a certain individual who happened to be his archenemy - well, he considered that individual as his foe, but she had so many that Jonathan wasn't sure what he really was to her. Not that it mattered anyway. Loathing was loathing.
What are you doing all the way up here? he inquired nonchalantly. It was a question that could be easily directed back at him, he realized, but he felt like talking. Usually he had his family to spend time with, but because of the ground there - which was rockier than these very mountains - he'd rather meet someone new for a change.

"Walking," she said in a monotone voice, "And yourself?" For a colldge student training to be a astronaut, she didn't seem like it, she seemed more matrue than a kid who dreamed to fly through space. She was a scientist, one who wanted totake a star fromthe sky and bring it home with her.

Uh... I'm... sitting, he replied unintelligently, though it was true. Jonathan was surprised at how bored she seemed to sound. Emotionless. Not cold, exactly, just... uncaring. That wasn't completely uncommon with non-humans - he had noticed this in his travels - but this girl was definitely mundane.
Isn't it sort of a rough climb? he reasoned. Jonathan doubted that the question would be repeated back at him. Being so unusually tall and not to mention strong, he didn't have too much trouble clambering up these cliffs.

"Meh, not really, I mean, I do this climb a lot, and have gotten farther up, I like it up here," she said with a small smirk, she looked up the mountain, yes, this was her second home. She stuffed her hands into her pockets, the weirdest part about this little, "lie", was that she was wearing JEANS!

Jonathan raised an eyebrow in something little short of astonishment. He was quite shocked that the girl claimed to climb this mountain frequently; maybe she too shared his bizarre love of high places or something.
What's your name, by the way? he inquired, and, remembering his manners, introduced himself belatedly with, I'm Jonathan Marano.

"Lorelei Addams," she said with a yawn, which she eded up covering up, because, she did use her manners, though it may seem that she didn't. What was with this fellow and asking her things, did she seem friendly somehow. Was that the case?

Nice to meet you, he said, without much enthusiasm. Maybe this Lorelei Addams was not a people person. She didn't seem too willing to continue talking. Perhaps he seemed to eager for conversation with someone who didn't seem to be about to bite his head off. He hadn't experienced joking and laughing and just talking and spending time with someone without a care in the world for quite some time now.
Jonathan decided to just shut his mouth and let her talk if she wanted to. It was sad that he had to spend this much time on thinking about what to do, but if things had been different at home, he wouldn't even be here. He didn't really have a choice at the time.

"Question, how comeI haven't seen you around here, I mean, I'm up here everyday and...." she cut herself off so that he could respond before she started to ramble. She sighed and placed her hands, behind her head, in a bored fashion, though she was just stretching.

I don't always come up here, Jonathan replied after a moment of considering his words. He didn't want to be too vague as to be rude, nor did he want to give too much away about his situation. Jonathan highly doubted that Lorelei knew of his kingship and he didn't like to boast about it.
Only when I need some peace and quiet, he continued, and since you're the first one I've seen up here, I get what I need.
