Damon sat gently, watching the murky water. He had been crying only minutes before but had forced himself to stop. The gentle child watched the water intently trying to find anything to take the pain away.
Why did he always dwell on things? He whimpered softly, the soft raven hair blew into his unmarred face. He swept the long strands away impatiently, he wondered where Timothy and the rest of them were now.
He felt the familiar pang of guilt and trembled slightly. He wasn't sure what was normal and wasn't anymore. He was so confused. Was he bad for running away or were they bad? He wasn't sure, he had never been taught anything that could help him.
He had only been gone for one day and already he was more confused then he had ever been in his life. At the 'house' he had always known what he had to do. He quivered, he knew that they must be looking for him. What was he to do?

Nettie walked slowly through the Necro Forest, and stopped, seeing a boy sitting by a spring. Nettie, gentle by nature, walked over and knelt a ways from him. "Hello. Why are you out here?" she asked softly.
Her hood was down, showing her strawberry blonde hair and forest green eyes. She smiled warmly, her shoulder blade itching. The cloak would hide them for now, so she let them out, her cloak moving slightly to show they came out. With the cloak flowing on the ground behind her, her wings were barely touching the ground.
She shouldn't be here, as an angel, in this dark place, but she very rarely listened to her instinct, even with herself 4 months pregnant. Besides, she couldn't just leave this child, even if he didn't look like a child, just felt like it.

Damon looked over to the girl and swallowed hard. She gave him a strange, wonderful safe feeling. His blue eyes saw her wings and he gasped, "I... wow!" His eyes were shrouded with innocence.
He had never seen an angel of any kind or anything of the sort, His entire life he had been sheltered from the real world for they would tell him bad things, at least that was what Timothy always said. Oh baby, he would whisper to the child, they are bad, they will try to tell you bad things my angel. They will try to take you from me.
Maybe Timothy was bad after all, the boy felt guilty again or maybe it was just fear. The boy moved closer to the beautiful creature, she seemed so warm and welcoming and besides that Damon was oh so very trusting. "I'm here because I was bad," he whimpered naively, "I ran away and they'll punish me."
Damon looked up to the angel and bit his lip rather hard.

"Oh, you poor dear," Nettie answered, and gently pulled Damon into a gentle hug he could easily get out of.
She just smiled, and was very gentle. With another smile she started to have her healing magic pool out around the boy in her arms. "My name is Nettie," she introduced softly.
The poor boy seemed so hurt, that she just couldn't help but want to keep him close. Though she would leave that up to him whether he wanted to stay or not. Besides, Nettie always had a small weakness for the innocent ones of the world.

Damon held onto her hopelessly, he didn't want to let go. He had never felt affection like this before, never so kind and caring... never so innocent. He looked up with sinless eyes, the girl's intentions seemed pure. She wouldn't hurt him, it was nice to see someone without sadism in their eyes. She wouldn't hurt him, no, she seemed too nice.
He closed his eyes against her, whimpering very softly, she made him feel a bit safer. "I'm Damon," he offered weakly. After all the young boy had been through it would appear strange that he didn't flinch away from the contact. It was different though, it was like a mother's touch. Damon had never felt that though, never such kindness. No only perversion and false love.
"Nettie," he spoke in a whispered hush, "they'll find me and I'll be in a lot of trouble. Please don't let them..." he trailed off. If they found him he would be taken back, it would be inevitable and he didn't want to get Nettie in trouble but still he couldn't let go of her.

Nettie smiled and brought her wings farther out of their containment. She brought her wings around forward, shielding him from 'them', and holding him a little tighter. "I won't let them Damon. I won't let them take you back. I won't promise anything I can't keep, but I promise you, when I can prevent it, I will protect you. That's a promise," Nettie promised with much conviction.
The soon to be mother angel was going to be like a tigress protecting her kittens. They would not touch Damon again, unless something bad happened to separate them. 'They always did say I was too soft to survive on Earth. But if being soft and kind helps those like Damon, or other children, then she didn't mind. Besides, she had survived so far.
Absent mindedly, Nettie started to hum softly and stroke Damon's hair the way her mother had once done. 'He's so innocent! How could anyone harm him?' she thought, wondering with an inner fury she contained.

Damon felt the wings wrap around him, oh how wonderful! He closed his eyes pretending that this was their own little world and that Timothy, Rex, and Leon simply ceased to exist. He wished the world really could be like that... but then the guilt came as it often did. He had been raised to think that all of the abuse was normal and Timothy and the others did it purely out of love. He was so confused, how on earth would he ever know what was bad or good?
Blue eyes looked up to Nettie as she spoke of protecting, he smiled sadly. "Thank you so much," his eyes were laced with innocent gratitude. "They'll hurt you though... they are very strong," it didn't look very much coming from such a fragile and small boy but they truly were strong and domineering. "They'll hurt us," his voice was small and meek.
Timidly he looked into her eyes, surely she must know what is normal. "Nettie, may I ask you a question?" he swallowed hard, feeling his cheeks blush a bit.

"Oh, Damon, thank you for worrying. You shouldn't though. It takes a lot to hurt me, no matter how strong they are. Besides, I won't let them hurt you," Nettie answered softly.
'Really, they would have to focus on how to hurt me, really,' she thought, still petting Damon's hair like a mother would her child.
"You already did Damon, but you may always ask me questions. I'll answer when I can," Nettie answered with a smile.
She had only seen such innocence when she had lived in Heaven. In fact, it was shown with the cherubs, those who guarded animals, over angels who saw humans all the time. 'Only children,' she thought.

Damon swallowed very gently and nodded. He wasn't sure how to ask the question. After all it wasn't entirely appropriate... was it? He moved into her comforting touch and figured that he should just ask.
"Nettie," he looked up, shamefully, "the men I live with, they say they love me. Well Timothy does. They make me do things." He blushed, "I don't like it. It hurts very bad but Timothy says it's okay. Is it? Others have told me it was the r-word but I get in trouble if I say it."
His body trembled, "is it normal or are they just being bad?" He looked down, feeling disgusting and dirty.

Nettie's wings shook slightly, and she pulled him closer. "Damon, what they did was wrong. As someone who cares for you, I will not lie, and I will not touch you in any way that makes you uncomfortable. What they did was very wrong, and you were not bad," Nettie answered.
'O' Lord, don't let Damon be harmed anymore. Not by them, not by anyone,' she prayed in her mind.
With that, she jumped a little, feeling her child move in her. "Oh, my. We're going to need find someplace to go. I can't stay outside in the cold," Nettie explained softly.
She gently held Damon closer though, and smiled. 'I have 5 more months. Hopefully Damon won't mind,' she thought.

Damon looked up as tears filled his eyes, he felt even worse now. He felt disgusting. "Oh," he whimpered. So it was bad and now he felt even guiltier, even though they made him do the bad things it made him feel like he was the bad one.
"They were bad right Nettie? Not me?" he swiped at his eyes delicately. "I didn't mean to do it." He swallowed hard. He heard her say they needed to go somewhere warmer. The gentle child rose to his feet. He was still not properly dressed.
The scantily dressed child held a hand out to Nettie, the lovely and kind angel.

"You aren't bad Damon. You are very good. Thank you," Nettie answered softly, and took his hand.
Some feathers were on the ground from Damon's sudden standing, and she smiled. With quick motions she took off her cloak with the hood, and held it out to Damon with a warm, concerned smile. "Don't need you to catch cold now. And don't start worrying. My wings will keep me warm," she stated, wrapping her wings a little around herself.
With the cloak off, a small bump could be seen, and she smiled a little more. "Damon, if they ever come close to you, just start running to me, and call my name. I can fly pretty fast," Nettie assured him, hoping he would remember.

Damon drew the cloak around his tiny frame, "you promise I am not disgusting?" he blinked. He began to walk rather slowly, staying close to her. "If they do hurt me... how will you protect me? Won't it be very hard?"
He bit his lip, surely it would be hard. He knew that they would take him and take him away from her. Timothy would yell and scream and ask why Damon left in the first place. Timothy would ask why he didn't love him.
And then he would hurt him. Timothy would make him hurt and make him cry. He would make him embarrassed and make him scared. He held the cloak to his dangerously thin body, "thank you so much Nettie."

Nettie smiled, and gently stopped Damon. "Damon, you aren't disgusting. I can protect you with my wings, and I can kick people. I am protective of people I care about Damon. Like a tigress with her cubs. I won't let them Damon, and I have a pretty strong ally," Nettie stated.
She smiled, and said, gently, "You are welcome Damon. Let's go, okay? It's getting colder."
With a quick motion she pulled the tiny boy into a hug, and wrapped her wings around him again. She just tried to protect him, even if it was just for a moment. Underneath, anger coursed through her body at these things. 'Being angry does nothing. O', please God protect him!' she prayed in her mind.
