Blinking, he went over to where he had seen her bolt to. "I could've sworn you were a thief with that act," Riven joked, tilting his head at her. He took it she was escaping, that much was obvious. Apparently things hadn't gone so well since yesterday for her, either.

She grinned. "Well, I guess that's another future career, then, I'll have to consider it." But then she became serious. "What happened after I left?" Carmen frowned. "I was hoping that your brother wasn't too mad.. but that might have been wishful thinking, I guess."

Riven shrugged and held up a hand. "I'm alive and in one piece," he stated, lifting an eyebrow. "What happened here?" She's going to notice your arm is fractured, his mind commented blandly. It was true, his right arm was limp at his side. He didn't usually use his left hand to express anything, but with luck she hadn't realized how important certain actions with certain sides were.

She eyed him disbelievingly, gaze straying to his right arm for a moment. "Are you sure about that?" she asked, orbs flickering back to his face.
"Oh, and not much. My parents sent me to my room." She rolled her eyes. "I think they're in denial about my age, so I'll probably be dead when I get home, but I don't really care. I've been wanting to get out all day."

"Is it possible to hide anything from you?" he asked with a light laugh. Riven couldn't move his right arm-- period. Couldn't move his fingers, couldn't even feel it. He'd have to deal with it though. He was the on who got yelled at, not his brother, who did this to him in the first place. "I don't think it's anything serious..."

"Nope," she replied, her eyes stubborn. Carmen took a step forward, worried again all of a sudden. "Maybe you should see a doctor," she persisted. And this is my fault.. all my fault. "You never know, it could be serious."

"It's not going to kill me," he said. "Besides, it's a small price to pay. I've seen what happened to some of the girls who tried to stand up to him or wouldn't give him an answer, and believe me-- it wasn't pretty." Riven gave her a grin. "I'd rather he not hurt you, too, Carmen."

She smiled softly at him, his words dissolving her heart for the millionth time in a short while. What was it about him, she wondered, that could make her smile or laugh or just feel completely refreshed and energized? What made her care about him so much? Love him so much?
She blinked a couple times.
Love?
Where had that come from?

"Why don't we go somewhere else, before we get caught standing out here?" Riven suggested, glancing at the house. He didn't trust that someone wouldn't notice Carmen was gone soon and race out the door. Not exactly the best scene, when they could call the police and whip up some excuse to have you locked up.

She nodded distractedly, blinking more and shaking herself out of her thoughts. In the end, she managed a, "Sure." She continued, "Anywhere is better than here, to tell you the truth. Every second I get away from my family is a treasure."

"You aren't alone for treasuring time away from your family," he told her as they walked away. Riven wasn't exactly sure where they were walking to, only that they were walking. For a moment, he just gazed down at the road, but eventually got his eyes back to Carmen. "Sorry I got you dragged in to all that yesterday," he said apologetically.

She waved her hand, shaking off his apology. "Forget about it. To be honest, it was the most exciting thing that I've done in years, even if it was kind of dangerous, in a way." She smiled. "I'm just that pathetic, I guess." Then Carmen shot him a glance. "Anyway, as long as you're okay, it doesn't matter."

"Wow, and I was going to say as long as you were okay it didn't matter. We're thinking completely opposite, almost, huh?" he asked, grinning. The day you kiss her, Riv, his mind sighed, I hope she drops you or slaps you one.

"Looks like it," she laughed, thinking, Yeah, we probably are opposite minds at the moment, considering what I'm thinking about you, Riv. She just wanted to make a move.. but that was practically unthinkable. She didn't want to risk their friendship..

I'm so stupid to be asking her this... "Carmen, if I told you something would you think I had completely lost my mind or slap me?" Riven asked, gazing at the sky with a blush spreading over his cheeks. If she did slap him it might get a little sense into his head. Or it might not. That would all depend.
