"Elope?" he suggested sweetly, threading his arm through hers and urging her on to point "C." He was half being serious, and half jesting for the reaction. Riven seemed to do that often -- search for what she'd do if he said this or that. Running off and getting married, however, that was pretty out there.
And, as the shadowy form's blood boil in a rage, it tried to remain still land quiet. Revenge took time. Time and patience.

Laughing, Carmen leaned against him and tried to breathe right. Still giggling, she kissed his cheek clumsily, her shoulders shaking with mirth. "Don't give me any ideas!" she managed to choke out. "That option sounds pretty appealing right now!"
She wasn't sure if she was serious or not. Seeing Riv again had lit a flame in her heart, a flame that had weakened over the week but never stopped. Now it was kindling once more, and she wasn't sure if she should keep it at the size it was at now or feed it and risk being burned.

Smiling at the sound, he joined her with a chuckle. "Oh, am I giving you ideas? You must forgive me," he said, sweeping her hair back with his fingers. "Should we run to the court house instead of the forest, seeing if we'd be able to?"
But now he had taken her shoulders and kissed her once on the neck, the texture of her laughs as his lips graced her skin still holding a numbing thrill within them. She was all he was thinking about now, old memories shoved deep into the back of his mind. Not all of us have a normal past, and some of us don't have one that should be shared, either, even if it is not depressing and unpleasant to hear.

Carmen chuckled, blushing as Riv kissed her neck, but letting her eyes gently shut in contentment. She couldn't pretend that it didn't feel good when he did that, and frankly, she didn't want to either. Flicking her head to one side, she caressed his jawline with her lips, murmuring into his skin, "Who would stop us?"
What an idea... a very intriguing idea. She wasn't sure if she'd act on it at this age - actually, what was she saying? Of course she would.

"Unless we ran into someone," he murmured to her, massaging the space between her shoulder blade, "then no one." Riven took the time to peer at her, to see the face he had been only able to dream of for a full week but never look at, but never touch, but never taste... It wasn't so anymore. "But that's your choice, you might not want to be with moi forever."
Smoothly, unable to keep them from it, his fingers touched her cheek, feeling the skin he had been neglected the softness of. How he loved it still, and how he loved her. You didn't kill the desire, Mal. It'll never die.
So says the mocking bird...

"Of course I do," Carmen replied without hesitation, biting her tongue to keep herself from singing. As she had previously established, none of her genre of music really proclaimed love. She'd have to move into some other type of song, and she didn't really feel like doing that. Carmen was afraid of what she didn't know.
For most things.
"I love you, Riv," Carmen said. Her voice was touched and hinted with shyness as she blushed lightly, but forced herself not to look away.

He gave her a loving smile, telling her in a tone that was gentle as the wind, "I love you, too, Carmen." His lips touched hers, only leaving at length. It was merely because he knew something would happen that they would regret if they stayed too long in one place.
"Let's go before they catch up," he told her, and the shadowy figure grinned. "I don't want you to have to deal with Mal, he's still pretty pissed off."

Carmen nodded, the smile that graced her lips not leaving its position. It all felt like a dream, from the time she had seen Riv on the street to their escape to now. But it wasn't even half the battle; there were still many things to get through, many issues to smooth out.
She slipped her fingers around his palm and began walking once more at a brisk pace, hoping that she and Riv wouldn't be found by Riv's brothers anytime soon.

Squeezing her hand, he walked out with her onto the sidewalk. People rushed about here and there, returning from school, going to work, returning from work, and other many reasons. As some other people crossed over from side to side, Riven tread with her through the masses until he stepped onto the street.
The shadowed form smirked as it slipped into the crowd and "swam" toward the two of them. Its plans set, its mind intent, it waited for its chance.

"Busy today," Carmen muttered under her breath, her voice taking on an irritated tone, though she was far from it. It was just a cover for anyone who happened to be listening - wow, that sounded really bad. Did she think there was some random popular girl from school who loved to hate her trailing after her or something?

Hearing her words, he taunted in a playful sort of way, "Think you can keep your footing?" He had not realized how hard that might be, as he had not seen Konozen darting through the flow of people toward them, nor Mal attempting to blend in. Strategy was everything in this game, and Riven didn't even know he was playing.
Though, most don't until it's too late. People hurried to one side or the other now as a large eight-wheeler rumbled down the streets, horn blaring. Risk was everything in this game as well, as the youngest of the brothers attempted to rush by without being seen by Carmen, as he hadn't the slightest care now if Riven saw him if it worked out in the end.

"Oh, I'm sure I can," Carmen replied, shaking her head in amusement. "I think I still have control over my limbs. Luckily for me, I didn't become paralyzed in your absence." As if to prove the fact, she pressed his hand lightly, smiling.
Carmen did not see Riv's youngest brother dart by, and she did notice the car, but didn't regard it as a concern. Most people didn't. A car is a car... and citizens don't always see it as a threat or a hazard when really that's what the machine is.

Laughing at her words, he replied, "I would hope not!" But, before they reached the other side someone dashed between them, separating their hands and causing Riven to trip. He felt the cold street with a loud scraping noise, and the sound of the blaring horn became louder. Unfortunately for him, the shock did not subside before four of the wheels of the vehicle flew over his leg, causing a grimace and a scream of pain from him.
As it left, he shoved himself up with one arm, looking first for Carmen. His leg was the least of his worries, her safety meant more. He could live without his leg, but he wasn't sure if he could without her.

It happened so fast that she hardly knew it had occured; someone had separated the two of them and the huge car had ran over Riv's leg before driving off again as though nothing of relative significance had taken place.
"Riv!" The name burst from Carmen as her eyes widened in shock and horror. She grabbed his hand and knelt by him, staring at the state of his injured leg. "I'll kill the driver of that car," she growled venemously, meaning it sincerely. "We need an ambulance..." She glanced around, searching for a compassionate face, eyes of sympathy, or, more importantly, some authoritive figure she could ask for help.

"Rivenborn!" The name was spoken none to friendly, sort of with an edge but a hint of forlorn sympathy. As Riven turned his eyes from Carmen's beautiful face to search for its source, he found Mal striding toward them and groaned in agitation of not wishing to see his gorilla of a brother. But, instead of the usual lecture on being careful, his brother broke out a cell phone. As this played out, Riven looked at Carmen with surprise from the event and thought.
Soon, Konozen joined Mal just as the words "Thank you," left Mal's lips, and it was announced an ambulance would soon arrive. In the meantime, Riven was to deal with the great throbbing pain in his injured leg, which had secretly been both his brothers' fault.
The person that had been spoken to was true to their word, as well, and soon Riven was rushed into the Intensive Care Unit, where they would end up denouncing his leg broken. Then, after setting it in a cast a few hours after he had arrive, he was moved to a free room where it was possible to visit him.
