Rafe couldn't help but smile when the sound of her giggle reached his ears. He wasn't sure why, but it had some form of effect on him.
"Alright," he responded quietly to Todd's words. Reaching over, he picked up his leather jacket, draping it softly over her. His eyes scanned for something to be a make-shift pillow, but it seemed the place had been abandoned too long for there to be anything. The only food there was most likely hiding rats, as well.
Forming into his usual form of an ebony wolf, he curled up beside Sa'd, letting his orbs close. He wasn't sure of when Todd would return, or how much trouble they usually got in when they did this. But it was a way of living, and his was no better and no worse.

Aasta, in her sleep, moved closer to the warmth she felt. It felt so nice and she fell into a deeper sleep. Unfortunately, she wouldn't sleep peacefully. She may have lost her sight, but her memory would give her dreams or nightmares. Her nightmare started, only it was a twisted fear now.
In her dream, she stood in a garden with blood that rained from the skies. It fell on her hands, and soaked her clothes. She tried to move into the house to escape the blood that rained down on her, but a sword fell down in front of her. She fell backward onto the blood slicked ground, and moved away from the sword, whimpering.
In reality, she was just laying still, and there was nothing to think that she was having a nightmare. Except for her face, for her face has a look of fear upon her.
Outside, Tod trotted along, trying to find a way into a house. He could smell the food, and wanted to get some. It was chicken! He loved chicken, and he wanted to get a drumstick for him, and a drumstick for Rafe. Aasta would get the wings, of course, if he could get inside!
With a huff, he noticed a window to the basement. With a grin, he entered and was now in. He sank through the basement, and up the stairs. He suppressed a squeak of surprise when the door opened, but he quickly ran back down the stairs. He hid under the stairs, and watched as a human walked down. Tod bared his teeth, and then saw the human turn.
The human grabbed something and threw it. Tod ran, and it hit his leg. He let out a pained yip and scurried up the stairs, & into the kitchen. Another item went flying past his head, and he ran out the door, limping.
In the shadow of an alleyway, he started to lick his wounded leg. He really didn't like humans like that. All this had taken place at about two hours after Aasta had fallen asleep.
Back at the temporary housing, Aasta awoke to a sharp pain in her leg. She gripped the area that hurt, and realized it wasn't her. She reached out, and found Tod. "Tod! Where are you? What happened?" she called out across their telepathic link.
"Ugh, some human got my leg with something. I was trying to get some chicken," Tod answered via their link.
"Where are you?" Aasta asked back.
"Uh, by a house, about 12 minutes of me running in the rain away from 'home sweet home'," Tod replied.
Aasta stood up, and lay the jacket next to Rafe. She went to the door, and then stopped. She turned around, and went over to Rafe. "Rafe, are you awake?" she called softly.

Rafe lifted his head at the sound of her moving. At first he merely watched her, but as she spoke his name and inquired something of him, he rose to his paws. "Yes," he answered. "I am awake. Is something wrong?"
His eyes blinked blearily, unsure of the blurry shapes and colours before his verdant orbs. Shaking his head, he tried to clear his vision, taking a moment to just stare at the floor until he could see it and every sharp hue to it. Then he turned his skull back up to stare at Sa'd.

"Tod got hit in the leg. I've got to go get him. I just didn't want to leave you without telling you. I'll be back soon," Aasta explained softly, and turned back around.
She went out and when the rain hit her from the roof she suppressed a shudder, and walked out into the rain. She let out a sigh, and started to walk slowly down the street. "Tod, get me there safely!" she called out.
Tod, 'hearing' her, sighed. He opened up their link farther, and knew where she was. "Keep going straight till I tell you to stop," Tod stated.
She nodded a little, not even two steps away from their 'home'.

"Humans," Rafe muttered beneath his breath, not meaning Sa'd. Focusing, he formed back into a human in a brilliant burst of ivory light. Then, grabbing his jacket, and slinging it over his shoulder he trotted out after her, not about to let the chance of her slipping again happen.
When he came up beside her, he told her lightly, "It's cold out here to not be wearing a jacket, at least." He could feel the rain pelting against his face and soaking through his clothes, but he ignored this.

Aasta looked over at Rafe, surprise across her features. She hadn't suspected that he would follow her. "Oh, you're right," she muttered.
Tod, in 'his' alleyway, was getting a little impatient. "Aasta! Get over here!" he shouted across their link.
Aasta jumped slightly, and held her head with a hiss of pain. "Oh, I'm going to hurt that fox!" she muttered, glaring in Tod's direction, she guessed.

"Here," he said, taking her hand and closing it around the jacket. "Just tell me were he is and I can get to him quickly enough. And, if that human happens to go looking for him, deal with it as well."
Rafe didn't enjoy it when human would throw things at him. Pots, pans, other objects, once a chair -- and he had gotten lucky. His speed had helped him out of every mess he got into, and hopefully it still would.

Aasta put on the jacket and shook her head a little. "No, I don't know where! Just an alley way near a house! He's too hurt to show me where, which means his leg has to be cut deep! That wretched old thing hurt him!" Aasta explained, getting a little frantic.
Tod usually was able to give her better directions, but this time he couldn't. Pain shot up her leg, and she grabbed it with a slight hiss. "Aasta? Sorry, but I just fell," Tod stated, and she sighed.
"Tod, when I find you, I'm going to hug you, and then yell at you," Aasta answered, and she looked forward.

Alarmed, Rafe jumped slightly beside her. "You want me to run quickly around and see if I can find him?" he inquired softly. "It shouldn't take too long, but if you need to be there when he is found I can take you along with me -- it would just seem about the same as sticking your head out of a car window, most likely."
When he ran, he was always swift on his feet and never wanted to stop. That was what he liked about his heritage -- it didn't only work in his wolf form, but also in his human form, as much as he hated that one. Whether she wanted to be carried again and this time consciously, though, he was unsure and slightly doubtful.

"If you would please take me with you," Aasta said, looking at him.
Tod glared at his leg, wondering what he had been hit with. It had been sharp, and long. He didn't like it, and he licked the wound again. "Aasta? If you could hurry up please?" Tod asked.
"Tod! Just give me directions!" Aasta answered with a slight snap, and rubbed her leg again.

He nodded to her, moving closer, then standing awkwardly a moment. It was clear to him that he had to pick her up otherwise he'd probably rip her arm off or end up breaking one of her legs while she tried to keep up -- unless she had also been gifted with such incredible speeds, which he doubted.
"Do you mind that I have to pick you up?" he queried quietly, knowing had he been a wolf his ears would have flattened back against his skull in embarrassment. It was all he could do just to keep the blush from coming to his cheeks.

"No I don't mind," Aasta answered.
In his alleyway, Tod debated on whether or not to contact Aasta again. Though, by the sound of her 'voice' he decided against it. She was started to sound tense, and scared. Aasta scared was never good. A slight twinge of pain went up his leg and he growled a little. 'Stupid non-fox!' he thought swishing his tail angrily.
The rain was still falling, and he shook all over. "I hate the rain," he muttered.

Carefully he picked her up, his arms beneath her knees and the middle of he back. He held her close, though felt strange doing so, even though he knew if he held her farther away he'd probably drop her. Then, with a sigh and swift intake of breath, he murmured, "Here we go."
He was nimble as he dashed along the streets, slowing only to take glances down each alley for the fox. Trying hard to hear through the rain, he focused on the multitask of looking for and listening for Todd. It was went a blur of unnatural colour in an alley caught his eye that he stopped his lope completely to see if it were Todd or just a stray cat or something.

Aasta clung to Rafe's shirt, surprised on how fast they were going. The rain stung her face a little, but other then that, she was comfortable. When Rafe stopped, she suppressed a little whine about how it was over. "What is it Rafe?" Aasta asked.
When Tod saw Rafe stop, he jumped up a little with a yip. "I'm here!" he called, and Aasta's face light up.
"Tod, what were you doing in a house? Besides the chicken! You know how normal humans react to foxes!" she scolded, moving a little to get out of Rafe's arms.
His leg was hurt, though he wasn't showing it. "But...it was chicken Aasta!" Tod whined a little, and Aasta glared at him.
Tod immediately pulled back, and laid his ears against his head. "Tod, what did we say about using the name that my parents gave me?" she asked, now not trying to get out of Rafe's grip.
She hadn't really heard the name 'Aasta' out loud in a while. In fact, it had sent her into a slight state of shock. "Aasta?" Tod asked softly, seeing the look of blankness on her face.

Rafe's face distorted into a startled expression as he saw the way her features had turned. He hadn't a clue what the name did to her, or why, but he glance about quickly and hurried down the alley so no one would see them.
"What's happened to her?" He moved to set her on her feet next to Tod, but held onto her. There wasn't a way he could be sure she wasn't going to fall. He couldn't even be sure if she was alright, at this point, staring at her face and pondering what was going on.
