"Oh, it's fine. A little twinge of pain, but no more then that," Aasta answered smiling.
She looked thoughtful for a moment, and then looked at him. "Can I 'see' you face?" she asked, not thinking about explaining what she meant.
She rarely did, getting so used to her world. She was surprised when he didn't ask her about how it felt to be in a world of darkness. She never minded the darkness. She especially hadn't minded after her near death experience. The hallucinations with the fever had sent shivers up her spine and she didn't realize she had in reality.
Those hallucinations haunted Aasta's nightmares and when she woke, she often found herself in a cold sweat, shaking. This time she hadn't though, and she was happy for that. Maybe it had to do with Rafe being there, as even Tod couldn't stop her nightmares.

Rafe blinked his deep emerald orbs. "See my face? But, if you're blind, how could you... ?"
For a moment, he contemplated what he said, finding that it may have seemed insulting to her. How generous of him. "I didn't mean that to sound like a fault, I've just never met anyone who couldn't see. Forgive me if I've insulted you with my careless choice of words, I truly don't mean to hurt you..."
His free hand traced over the charm on his collar. Yin and yang. It did sort of feel that way. But he wasn't sure. There was very little he could be certain of, and the reason this collar and charm had been bestowed on him was one of those things he could not figure out.

Aasta laughed a little and shook her head. "No, no, you didn't insult me. No, how I 'see' someone's face is tracing their face with my hands. Last person I asked that too laughed in my face. Trust me, you didn't insult me," Aasta said, still chuckling a little.
She thought it was kind of funny how he thought he would insult her, and how he avoided it to the best advantage. "Sorry I laughed, but the way you sounded. It was funny," she apologized, still laughing a little.

"That's quite alright," he said, rubbing the back of his head and chortling a bit himself. "And as for you question, I don't see any harm in it. I don't really know how much you'll be able to 'see,' but I don't mind,"
No one had ever asked if they could feel his face to be able to "see" it before, so it was a bit strange to him. But there was nothing wrong with it that he could see, so why not? The worst that could happen was he could begin feeling awkward and jerk away... though, he hoped dearly that wouldn't be the case.

Aasta faced him, and she placed gently traced her hand from his elbow to his hair. She blinked a little, and said, "You are about 5'7", maybe. I can't be too sure about that. You are going to have to close your eyes though."
She slowly brushed her fingers down to his forehead, and gently traced his hair line. She moved her hands slowly, and gently brushed along his eyebrows. "Nice to 'see' that you don't have a unibrow," she stated with a smile.
She paused at his eyebrows and asked, "Are your eyes closed?"
Inside, Tod had gotten up and now watched them. He blinked in surprise at Aasta 'seeing' Rafe's face. 'Thank goodness she is the one facing inside,' he thought with a twitch of his tail, still curled up.
He listened to the rain, and heard the melody it played. Easy beats upon the roof and in the street it was 'singing'. Tod gave a little shake and closed his eyes again.

Rafe couldn't help but chuckle a little. It was a bit strange to have someone feeling his face, but he wouldn't complain about the oddness. Really, he wondered if she could notice how much warmer his body was than a usual human because of his being part wolf.
"I'm quite glad I don't have a unibrow," he said, shutting his eyes so she could continue. "They're closed now."

Aasta slowly traced his eyes, feeling the way they were shaped, and traced his nose. She moved slowly along his cheekbones and slowly traced down back to his nose. He felt warm, but pleasantly slow. Fever hot was a bad feeling she had under her hands, this was pleasant. She paused for a moment, and slowly traced his lips, her fingertips barely touching them.
For some odd reason, her heart felt like it was beating faster then normal. Of course, that might be because she had never 'seen' a guy's face before. She had liked to not tell people about her blindness. They often had a tendency to over react, and she gently let her hands fall down to her side. "Thank you," she stated, and her heartbeat wasn't slowing down!
She was pretty sure her face was red too, as she could feel it. Aasta couldn't help it, she thought he 'looked' nice.
Tod watched with interest, and smirked at Aasta's red face. Oh yeah, she might have a crush on wolfy-boy. Tod yawned quietly, and curled up again.

Rafe released a breath he hadn't realized he had been holding. His eyes remained shut, waiting for the beating of his heart to go down from the experience. "That was certainly different, especially from having things thrown at you," he commented.
Slowly, he opened his deep jade eyes. He tried not to mimic the redness of her face as he saw her, but he knew it would appear behind his eyelids as he slept. The great complexity of life.
"It looks as if it may get worse. Perhaps we should go back inside until the storm ends," he suggested, watching a darkly bruised cloud drifting toward the area.

Tod, upon hearing that they might come back inside, closed his eyes, and curled up tight. He didn't want to be found out, because he was pretty sure that Aasta wouldn't be happy.
"All right," Aasta stuttered out slowly.
She was starting to feel the cold around her, and realized that she was cold. She unconsciously pulled closer to Rafe, as he was warm, shivering slightly. 'How could I not have noticed that earlier?' she thought, and the rain started to pour again.
A rumble of thunder, and she was sure a lighting flash happened. "For every rumble of thunder, the lightning is that many miles away," Aasta stated softly.

Rafe cocked his head to the side while guiding her back into the old place. "It is?" He had never taken any notice to the weather, just lived in it. It was all he could manage to ignore the stutter as he listened to her.
Inside was still chilly, but not as damp or gelid as it was out in the rain. It mattered little to Rafe, but he had to remember that not everyone there was able to keep a temperature of one hundred and three. It was a reason he couldn't be seen by human doctors; they would keep him there forever.
He glanced at her a moment. Then, quietly, he remarked, "You seem cold." His mind told him that drawing her nearer would change that, but he shook it away. What is wrong with me today?

The direct question is what got Aasta to notice that she was cold. She nodded slowly, and answered, "Yes, about both. My mother told me that's how she knew whether or not I could play outside or not during a storm. If the thunder and the lighting happened at the same time, I wasn't allowed outside."
He was warm, and she felt comfortable. 'If Tod were awake I would never hear the end of it,' she thought, and she looked up at Rafe's general direction.
"Rafe, do you want to travel with us?" she asked softly, giving him the option to say no.

He blinked, taken off guard from the question. "I travel a lot, as it is," he admitted with a shrug. "If I wouldn't burden you and if you want me to, I can come along. Nothing better to do."
Rafe peered around at the interior that meant to be their temporary shelter, until the rain stopped pounding over their heads. And his mind was wondering what it was that was going on now. He wasn't in any position to understand much about human emotion, but at this rate, he realized he'd need to learn a bit about it.

Aasta leaned slightly against Rafe. "Thank you for coming along with us Rafe," she responded, happy to be warm.
She wasn't shivering anymore, which was a good sign. Then again, she was near a warm person. The pain in her head, that was still just a twinge, started to hurt a little more. "I need to lie down," she muttered, and placed her head gently on her head, feeling the bandage.
"Thanks for this by the way," she whispered.
Tod, eyes closed, over heard, and his ears twitched a little. He wanted to hear something interesting, not boring.

"I couldn't just let you stay there and the wound remain open. I may have the heart of both a wolf and a man, but I still have enough compassion to care," he explained quietly, helping her back down to where she had laid earlier. "If you get cold you can have my jacket, I only wear it 'cause I like it."
He shook his head; the rain had collected in his hair. It made the charm on his collar jingle, the water spraying around him. Noticing his rudeness, he hastily apologized, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that so close..."

Aasta let out a soft laugh, and responded, "No, it's okay. Tod didn't wake up," Aasta answered softly.
When the water hit her face, she smiled, and giggled a little. "That felt nice, and it doesn't matter, so long as Tod doesn't wake up. He gets cranky when you wake him up," Aasta whispered, closing her eyes.
Her body felt heavy, but she still felt safe. With just Tod around, she felt safe, but not this kind of safe. 'I really hope he sticks around,' she thought, and drifted off.
Tod sighed and got up, giving Rafe a look. "Just cover her with the jacket," he stated softly, and he started to go to the door.
"I'm going to go find some nice food that I might be able to steal, so I'll be gone awhile," Tod added and slipped out the door.
