"Sure," Alacer said happily, trying and failing not to sound overly ardent. "Er - d'you need any help moving in or anything? I could come by and give you a hand whenever." He hoped he wasn't being too pushy, but really, he hadn't realized until then how lonely he was. He missed normal human company, even if he did have plenty of time to hang out with some of the guys from his class.
He hadn't realized until then how wrong this was going to look to his neighbors, either. Or how lovely Clarissa's voice sounded over the phone.

Clarissa chuckled. "No. I think Ive got it. Literaly all I have are two pairs of shoes, three outfits, and my cell phone." Clarissa looked over at her boss who was standing at the other end of the room, a livid look in his eyes. "Oh and just so you know, im like a hamster, I dont take up alot of room, im not noisy, you wont even know im there." Clarissa bit down on her lip, not wanting to end this conversation like the last one.
"Hey Alacer....my boss is about to start the big scream fight so uhh.... My address is on the card. Come by after you get out of class and Ill follow you to your aparment to get my stuff in"

"A hamster... alright, then, I'll see you in a bit," Alacer said, a hint of thoughtfulness in his voice as he shut off his phone and neared his apartment building. Normally, he would have said something like "I hope you don't smell as bad as a hamster" or "do I have to change your wood shavings?" in that joking manner that he used so much, but... Clara wasn't one of his guy pals, or even another one of his gal friends that he loved to joke around with. She was different somehow.
With the intention of getting all his stuff ready and tidying up a bit before Clara arrived, Alacer picked up the pace.

Clarissa hung up the phone and smiled at her boss, trying to smooth things over a little. Her boss....obviously was not amused. Clarissa winced as her bosses face turned red. "1....2....3...." Clarissa whisperd to herself.
"DO YOU REALIZE HOW LATE YOU ARE!?!" Her boss screamed, knocking over a bag of bird feed. "Twenty minutes? Tops?" Clarissa said with a high voice. "THATS EXACTLY RIGHT. THAT APROXIMENTLY FIVE COSTOMERS YOU MISSED. PLUS YOUR LITTLE CELL PHONE CHAT. HOW LO-" Clarissa didnt not let her boss finish.
"Alright. Let me tell you something you stupid bad temperd loser. I HATE this job. I HATE this town. And you know something else? I hate YOU. So dont even WORRY about fireing me because I QUIT." Clarissa scowled and threw the broom down, grabbed her phone, and stormed out of the store before her boss even knew what hit him.

Alacer couldn't help it; his mind wandered all the way through class. He was supposed to be listening to his teacher help him with making a PowerPoint presentation, since he was so behind in computer skills, as his family hadn't had one of the machines when he was young due to mild poverty - and woah, his teacher was fine; his eyes kept straying from his screen to her face and sometimes even to other areas that he really shouldn't have been looking at - but it was so hard to concentrate. Clara kept meandering through his brain with a cheery wave, her image looking content to see him.
The whole roommate thing was exciting, even if Alacer hardly knew Clara. He could see himself introducing her to all his friends, could see the whole group of them getting along just fine. Maybe he was just being overly optimistic as usual, but life... life was good. It really was.
When his instructor finally dismissed them, Alacer high-tailed it out of there, grabbing his binder and hurrying out of the university building, not stopping to chat with any of his buddies as he usually did. He'd give Clara a call when he got home. Alacer had used his cell phone enough for today, and he didn't have all the money in the world to pay phone bills.

Clarissa sighed as she sat down at the small table in the kitchen of her apartment. "Way to go Clara. 'Oh do you have a job?' 'No I quit' Thats something good to tell people..." She said to herself. She chewed on her hair, a never ending habit. She tapped her feet on the ground, it was pretty obvious on what she was doing, she was waiting for....Alacer to call. The name bounced all over her mind.
Every few seconds Clarissa would catch herself staring at the wall, thinking of him. What made him so special? He was just another guy, right? Clarissa got up and got a glass of water, trying to calm her nerves. Her things were packed, now all she could do. Was wait.

After tidying up his apartment a little bit, Alacer dialed Clara's number... again. He had certainly been calling a lot lately. Oh well, that was to be expected; if they were going to be roommates... wow, that was an odd word to use in this case... they'd have to communicate somehow.
His home phone rang absently as he drummed his fingers on the scratched, second-hand table top, waiting for Clara to pick up. Alacer became painfully aware of his breathing, of his heartbeat, of the sounds his nails made against the wooden surface.

Clarissa was so startled by the ring of the phone she dropped her glass of water. Clarissa groaned as she reached over and grabbed the phone. "Hello?" She said calmly and happily, knowing it was Alacer. Okay. Now Clarissa was freaking herself out. She just broke a glass and now shes happy? Woah. It takes a miracle worker to put Clarissa in a good mood after she just broke the last glass in the set of 24 that had cost her her a weeks paycheck.

"Hey, Clara, it's Alacer again," Alacer said into the phone with a small, slightly anxious chuckle. "Do you want me to come by your place to help you move in here? Just tell me your address and I can, it's not really a huge deal and I don't have much else to do with the day."
So why was his heart pounding, why was his breathing becoming quicker and unrhythmic? If she was "just a roommate", why did it matter so much?

Clarissa smiled "Sure. Uhh... I live in that old run-down aparment complex behinde the bakery. Im in aparment number 369" Clarissa chuckled "Oh, and if some old guy asks you for money, thats Mr.Rustine. Dont give him anything, just keep walking, he wont bite." Clrissa winked even though she knew Alacer could not see.
"So I guess Ill see you when you get here. Mrs.Wince my landlady wants me out already, than goodness you offerd me to stay with you when you did. Oh. About that. Thank you So much."

"Uh, okay," he said in response, trying to digest all this information at once. "Oh, and it's no problem. I'm looking forward to it, actually." He could feel himself blushing.
"I'll see you soon, then," Alacer said hastily, preparing to hang up and meet Clarissa at the location she had indicated. He could get a picture of the complex behind the bakery in his mind's eye; he saw it every day on his way back from work. It was, indeed, rather dilapatated, and though his apartment building wasn't exactly high class, it was better than that one.

Clarissa herself also blushed. "Okay. Goodbye A Man. See you when you get here." Clarissa waited for Alacer to hang up this time. Clarissa could not controle her face. She just kept smiling when Alacer was on her mind. He made her so happy, but she had no idea why. It was like.... he was her happy drug.
Wait. Happy Drug? What was Clarissa thinking? She needed to keep her head in place. She was falling to quickly for this Alacer guy. She had to keep her cool or else shed end up looking like an idiot.

"Bye, C-Girl," Alacer joked, hanging up before she could say anything. He wasn't sure he wanted to know her reply. Next thing he knew, he'd be pet naming her or something. What was with him today? Was it the weather? Was there too much pollen in the air? If so, it had to be effecting his brain.
Alacer strode to the door proposefully and scarpered down to the bottom floor. He was eager to get to Clarissa's and his feet seemed to be even quicker and more rhythmic than usual, so he reached the complex in good time.

Clarissa tried her best to look decent for Alacer. She looked at herself in the mirror and fluffed her hair up. "Okay....need...makeup" Clarissa touched up her lip gloss and eye makeup. That was the only makeup Clarissa ever wore. Eye makeup and lip gloss. She put the finishing touches on her mascara. "Okay. Now to wait,"
Clarissa sat at her small kitchen table. She ran her fingers over it, for this would be the last time shed ever see it. She was moving away from this wretched place, hopefully to a place a little more decent. Even if it was a little masculine.

Hurrying up to apartment number 369, which Clara had clearly stated was hers (for the time being - a few minutes or so now, probably), Alacer knocked on the door, calling in, "Clara? It's Alacer."
He waited then, realizing just how awkward life would be from now on. Two youths, one male, one female, living together when they hardly knew each other. There was only one bathroom in their apartment - he shuddered, thinking of something he'd rather not - that they'd have to share, for instance.
