An important day, he inserted, and, bracing himself for rejection, slipped an arm around her shoulder. It wasn't really a romantic gesture; it was more friendly, but you wouldn't think so from the way Alacer's heart was pounding. He was actually suprised that Clarissa couldn't hear it.
Then I think you'll be okay with me. He laughed. "Crappy food" was the main source of his diet.

By now, Clarissa was blood red. And it was as if her muscles suddenly had minds of her own because a second later she found herself putting her arm around Alacers shoulders and smiling. "Oh was it? Well, I find it a very important day too. It's not every day that you find a kind and generous guy like you." She said with a nod. "Not to mention you're one of the cutest guys I've ever met" Clarissa thought to herself, but thought she better not add that part.

Alacer smiled to himself and gave Clarissa's shoulder a friendly squeeze. He was glad she hadn't shoved him or flipped him off or something. Aw, shucks, he said, pretending to be embarrassed, and then laughed again. Nah, you're exaggerating. I'm glad you don't mind my company, though. You'll probably be in it a lot if you're planning on staying for a while, which is fine with me.
In his mind, he was already making a list of stuff he'd need to do to make the apartment completely suitable. And where was she going to sleep? Well, he'd easily give her his bed, but he doubted that she'd be all that comfortable using it. Maybe, though. There was a couch, but it was way too hard to sleep on in Alacer's opinion.

Clarissa smiled. "Mind your company? Noooo. You're a cool guy. I don't mind your company at all. In fact I like it." Clarissa blushed, hoping she didn't just freak Alacer out. "Actually, I don't plan on staying too long. I don't want to be a burden to you. And that's another thing too, don't go off running yourself ragged trying to fix things up for me. You don't have to do a thing." She said with a serious nod, this time actually composing herself and not laughing.
Though the thought of of 'Where am I going to sleep?' did come to mind, Clarissa brushed it off. 'I'll just sleep on the floor if there's no other place.' She thought to herself.

Good. Alacer couldn't say much more to her compliment, but the smile that had alighted on his face told all. I don't know what you're talking about, though. You wouldn't be a burden to me. Apartment life, especially in a crappy one like mine - "Oh, sure, make it sound unappealing to her, genius - can get boring and lonely. It's nice to have someone else to talk to. My neighbors and I don't get along so well.
Alacer's grin grew. Running myself ragged, huh? We'll see about that. He wouldn't admit it, but he was going to try harder for Clarissa, definitely, without a doubt. There was no way he'd let his apartment rot like he usually did. Not with company like this. That'd just be embarrassing.
They were nearing his building now. Alacer winced at the cold concrete look of the outside. He had always wished they'd renovate, but it had never happened - not yet, anyway, and his hopes weren't exactly sky-high for future decoration plans.

Clarissa nodded. "I know what you mean. At my old place, most of my neighbors were drug addicts who were in a whole other world every time you said 'Hello' to them. So you can imagine how we didn't get along all that well..." Clarissa shuddered. "I hated it it so much there.....Thank you, so much, again. For letting me move in with you." 'Aww. He's like your little knight and shining armor.' A sly voice in the back of her mind said. But Clarissa pushed it back, and settled on smiling.
Clarissa looked up at the building that they were slowly coming up to. "Is that your place?" Clarissa asked softly. Clarissa liked it. It wasn't as bad as her old place but yet wasn't too perfect and preppy either.

Sounds like it must've been weird, at least, Alacer said fervantly. It really sucked that she had been forced to live in a place like that. He was going to make sure that his apartment was miles ahead of her old one. She deserved it. She deserved better.
You're welcome, he replied warmly, then laughed. No need to thank me, really. It's not that big of a deal. But his mind screamed the opposite.
Yeah, that's it, in all it's run-down glory, Alacer replied cheerfully, withdrawing a key to the building from his pocket. He progressed to the door, unlocked it, and walked in, holding it open with one arm for Clara.
The lobby had a floral wallpaper with mirrors scattered around helter-skelter. Alacer saw about ten reflections of himself and noted that his hair was sticking up slightly, but he couldn't exactly fix it without Clara seeing. He flinched at the sight of the overstuffed cream-coloured, retro armchairs and spongy carpet. If only he lived in some beautiful, posh, rich building. That would really get Clara's attention.

Clarissa smiled as she walked in. It was a very lovely place, in the lobby anyway. She looked at her reflection in one of the mirrors and chuckled. "Wow I look horrid today." She muttered. She looked over at Alacer. "This is lovely." She said with a large grin. "Simple yet classy." She said with a nod. Although, Clarissa had never really been in a fancy apartment before, this seemed fancy to what she was used too.
(Yes. Sucky reply. Writers block thing x.x)

You like it? Alacer replied in astonishment, staring at her. He finally blinked and shook his head. You'll be happy with my apartment, then, I'm sure.
He motioned towards the elevator to show her where it was and pressed the button to open the doors. Something classical played in the background - Alacer winced in distaste - as if to directly rebel against the common stereotype of elevator music. "We won't put music in the elevator... we'll put it right outside!"
Finally, the wooden doors slid open and Alacer walked in, gesturing for Clara to follow after him.

Clarissa nodded. "Yes, I do." Clarissa walked into the elevator, it was quite small, but it was nice none the less. She hummed along to the music that was playing. "I take it you don't like elevator music. I personaly think it's catchy. So anything that's catchy enough to hold me attention, I like." Clarissa put a strand of hair in her mouth and chewed on it. If Clarissa was going to stop chewing on her lip then she was just going to have to chew on her hair insted.
"But then again almost anything can catch my attention..." She said looking over at Alacer and blushing, then looking down at her feet.

Alacer raised an eyebrow at her blush but smiled pleasantly all the same. That's not a bad way to be, he replied, hinting slightly and flirting simultaneously. He mentally slapped and reprimanded himself. He couldn't do this - not now. Not when they were going to live together. That would be way too suggestive.
They reached his floor and Alacer stepped out of the elevator, motioning for Clara to follow. He could see his door at this point. He noticed anew every day how close his apartment was to the elevator.

Clarissa smiled and nodded. "Guess not." She followed Alacer out of the elevator and into the hallway. The hallways wallpaper matched the lobbys, Clarissa thought it was sorta cute. Although she knew she better, she was going to be seeing it quite a bit, now wasn't she?
She noticed that Alacer was eyeing one particular door. She walked over to it. "Is this is?" She said with a grin. The door was atleast nice. So far so good.

Yup, this is it, Alacer said, somewhat dispiritedly. Home sweet home, for me and for you - what's mine is yours. Don't get your hopes too high up, though, he added, then cracked a grin. There isn't much, but I'm willing to share it anyway.
Withdrawing the key from his pocket, Alacer shoved it into the keyhole and turned. The apartment door swung open with an irritating creek. Flicking the light switch, Alacer escorted Clarissa in which a swing of his arm and shut the door behind the two of them.
The apartment's main colour was white. The carpet was white, as were the walls; everything was bland, except for the dents and slashes that popped up in the most unexpected places. Like I said, it isn't much, Alacer repeated nervously, waiting for Clara's opinion.

Clarissa shook her head. "You are crazy.... This place is just fine." She said with a smile. "I mean... It's better than my old place. But then again just about anyplace is better than my old one." She said with a chuckle.
"I really do like it though." She said, taking a step forward and looking around. "I mean it's not fancy or anything, but it kinda has that 'home' feeling you know?" She said softly, walking all around now. "Are you one hundred percent you want to do this? I don't have to move in... I mean especially if you don't want me too."

Actually, I am having some second thoughts, Alacer replied seriously. I'm not sure I want someone here living with me - "You just HAD to phrase it like that, didn't you?" - who's always going to be apologizing for being a bother when she isn't and asking me if I'm sure I want to have her here. Alacer laughed and shook his head. Clara, it's fine, and yes, I'm sure.
Faced with a more pressing and somewhat embarrassing issue, he continued, So where do you want to sleep? Gesturing around the room, he said, I don't mind using the floor if you want my bed, which is probably the most comfortable place in here so I wouldn't blame you and I'd be willing to let you use it. The couch is pretty hard, but it is better than the floor, and if for some reason you like floors, I could probably find an extra mattress somewhere... Alacer winced, thinking of his empty bank account.
