"As long as the door will actually open, I should be able to manage," Rafe replied. Doing his best not to hurt her while opening the door, he slipped inside out of the storm. The scent that clung to the room almost made him recoil at the difference between cold air and a musty, aging atmosphere. His nose wrinkled up in a silent complaint as he scanned the area.
Glancing to Tod, he inquired, "Did you see anywhere where I could lay her down? Even if she is unconscious, I doubt this would be comfortable to wake up to." Finally he removed the cloth, quite sure it had outlived its worth. It was cerise and soaking as he removed it, and he gazed at Sa'd to check for more bleeding.

Tod looked proud of himself, and dragged out flat some crumpled together sheets. "Will this work?" he asked.
His ears then pricked toward Aasta, hearing her breathe become odd. His own breathe hitched slightly. "Let's hurry," he added.
Outside, the thunder boomed, and Tod jumped about a foot in the air. He laid his ears back at the weather, and then watched Aasta again. "Sa'd, you better wake up soon," he whispered, his tail flicking slightly.
The water was flowing of him, so when he flicked his tail, the water splattered slightly.

Nodding slightly, Rafe set Sa'd gently upon the sheets. "It shall do, since there doesn't seem to be anything else available." He shrugged out of his jacket, draping it over her, though he new it wouldn't be too much warmed since she was so close to the floor. Promptly, he began to check for her pulse.
"Perhaps I should go out and get an ambulance to come and take her in. They'd probably be able to help her more than I can," Rafe admitted honestly, lifting his emerald orbs to Tod. "That, and they know more about helping to heal humans than I probably ever will, only having half the blood of one. I still rely on instincts, and they don't include first aid."

Tod's eyes went wide at the mention of a hospital. "No! None of the humans can know she is here!" Tod exclaimed.
Aasta shifted slightly, and Tod looked over at her. "Look, you can get one human who will keep their mouth shut, but other then that no[/b] humans,[/color]" Tod muttered before going over and curling up against her.
Once again, the wooziness was back, and he closed his eyes, his breathing exactly like Aasta's. "Just please come back soon, OK?" Tod added softly, opening one of his eyes.
He was trusting Rafe, something he rarely did with anybody. He trusted Aasta, even before they had become pact partners he had trusted her, so he was going against his nature to trust Rafe.

"Alright. I'm not exactly sure what's going on... but I suppose I could get something to clean the wound and see what I can do. If it matters that much that humans not know her whereabouts, I'll keep my muzzle shut." Rafe hadn't realized a word he had said wasn't used to describe a human. And, looking like one at the time, that most likely made no real sense.
Striding toward the door, he tossed one final glance at the two of them. Then, once out of their sight, a smile crossed his face. Time for a little fresh air. In a flash of ivory light, he became an ebony brute, the collar he wore as a human still around his neck. He dashed off then, toward the only place he knew were to find what was needed.
{ I'm going to go on and skip to when he returns in this post. Hope you don't mind. }
Jogging back, back out of his canine form, he carried bandages that would make for a cast about her head where she fell, a towel, and a few other things. Could have sworn they were gonna notice all this junk missing before I made it out the door... Slipping inside where they had apparently taken shelter in, he called out, "You still awake, Tod?" He continued his way, pausing once to shake the water out of his hair.

{After Rafe left}
Tod let out a soft sigh, and gently rested his head on her arm. They both coughed harshly and Tod felt really woozy afterward. He was really starting to like this new guy, especially when he used references to...well he talked like a wolf sometimes, but whatever, Tod could deal with that. Their breathe ragged, and Tod light headed, he fell into a light sleep.
{When Rafe Comes Back}
Tod heard Rafe, and looked up, eyes a little glassy. "Who are...Oh! Rafe. You're back just in time," Tod answered, words slightly slurred.
When he stood up, he stumbled a little and shook. He was wobbly. He sat back down, and quickly lay back down, eyes still glassy. "Nothing is wrong with me, help her," Tod stated, closing eyes.
He knew for a fact nothing was wrong with him. Aasta was dieing, and he was relying on Rafe.

"Has she lost much blood since I left?" he queried as he settled onto the space on the other side of Sa'd. That name still sounded fairly odd to him, Sa'd. But whatever her name, he knew he had something to do. Quietly, he began shifting through the things he had thrown into one of the hand-baskets they have at stores.
It wasn't must, but he took a bottle of water and poured a bit onto his hands, using it to wash his hands to the best of his ability before picking up the towel. He put a small bit a pressure onto the wound on her head, waiting for it to stop bleeding before he cleaned it and put some of the peroxide stuff he had picked up. Rafe wasn't very good in the field of helping or what things are good for this or not, but he was hoping he could do at least something right for now.

Tod shifted a little and whispered, "The blood flow has slowed considerably. In fact, it is starting to stop now. Clean it with what ever cleans it. Can't...wha..who...oh, peroxide, that's it."
He was feeling really out of it, and he stood slowly. "We need to get her to wake up after the head is bandaged. There's a plant that...what's it called...why are you never awake when I need your plant knowledge?" he added, getting irritated.
His tail swished, and he lay back down. "What's it called? It smells nasty, and it's guaranteed to wake the dead. Of course, that doesn't actually happen," he muttered, trying to get his thoughts organized.
"She might scream when she becomes lucid. She won't be expecting someone to be holding her," he added before thinking through the plant.
Aasta let out small sound, and she muttered something incoherent, then was dead to the world once more.

"Sorry, I'm not really good with plants," Rafe admitted, wetting the towel a bit and dabbing again at Sa'd head wound. After drying it, he took a cloth he had taken and put some of the peroxide on it before placing it against the open wound.
Waiting for the medicine to stop fizzing, he glanced back at Tod. "Do you think if I put a little bit of cold water on her face that it would get her to wake up?" he queried, his eyes flitted back to her. What would go through her mind when she woke up? If he hadn't already come so far and gotten himself stuck in the middle of this, he would have allowed himself to be fearful of that thought.

Tod's tail twitched a little, and he answered, "Yeah. Just be wary about her screaming. She gets loud."
He yawned a little, and snuggled against Aasta's side. "Besides, I'll just get her to calm down," he added.
Aasta shifted again, letting out a sound of pain, feeling the sting of the peroxide. "Oh, she's going to wake up soon," he whispered, feeling a little more lucid.
Also, the back of his head stung lightly, and he shook his head. He stood up, and his fur bristled. 'Aasta, please stay calm. Breathe in, breathe out, and stay calm. No matter what you feel, don't...[/i]' he thought, and Aasta's eyes shot open.
Her breathing was a little hard, and she slowly closed her eyes again. "Well, that didn't last long," Tod muttered, though still feeling...well not perfect but close.
"I'm...awake...you...know," she gasped, her head pounding, and the thunder wasn't helping.
"Yeah...that explains a lot at least," Tod answered, curling his tail around his feet after he sat down.

"Well, I didn't lose my hearing yet," Rafe said quietly, now waiting for his presence to be noticed and know she would, probably, scream. All the supplies he had been holding he put down, just in case had had to cover his ears. How intelligent speaking had been, he wasn't sure.
How smart it would be to reveal he wasn't human, he definitely wasn't sure. Some people took his ability a little harder than others. It probably wouldn't help much that his jacket was also draped over the girl, and that he had found her when unconscious and not near being awake.

"Tod, who's with us? I can hear something," Aasta inquired, eyes still closed, breathing a little hard.
"Oh? Him? He's Rafe, Sa'd, and he's been helping you. Of course, he actually has my respect, so please don't make him go deaf," Tod answered, trying to sound casual.
She let out a sigh, and looked straight over at Tod, eyes open. Her emblems where her pupils should be reminded Tod of the choice they had made and he shifted slightly under her gaze. "You were dieing. I had to do something," he stated.
She let out a soft sigh, and closed her eyes again. "Thank you Rafe," she murmured before slipping into a light doze.
"At least she didn't scream," Tod said, looking at Rafe.

He blinked down at her, murmured a quiet, "You're welcome," then averted his gaze to the corner of the room. There was a sudden awkward feeling drilling deep in his chest, one he didn't understand. Nor did he see what notched his heartbeat, making it race and skip. A few slow breaths did nothing to help him.
"Yeah," he agreed, nodding slightly without glancing to Tod. "I take it she'll be find now, after the bandages are put around her head?" Though he tried to maintain a casual voice, he was sure it didn't come out that way. He couldn't let himself change here, either, though he wished dearly he could get out of this miserable form.

"You know, now would be the time to be honest. I mean, I have you on my trust list, and I wouldn't mind you staying around. Sa'd wouldn't mind what you were. I mean, we're not really normal either," Tod stated, ignoring the question about the bandages.
He glared at the evil weather, and stretched a little. "Just wrap her head up, and she'll be okay, I guess. When she's herself, she can tell us what plants to get. Until then, will you stick around?" Tod added.
The thunder wasn't pounding anymore, so he was more relaxed. It also helped that Aasta wasn't dieing anymore. With the two of them safe, but in that situation, made Tod realize they needed one more person to help out.

Without a word, Rafe began wrapping the bandages about her head. He didn't make them tight, just enough so they wouldn't come loose and slide from her head. I have you in my trust. The words were odd and foreign to him, but they meant something. And that meaning was enough for him. But was it alright for him to get too close to them?
"If neither of you will freak out," he started in a tiny voice, "I can show you what I really am. You've probably already gotten a hint that I'm probably not human, or at least not completely, and you're right about that." His hands trembled with nerves and he clamped them together on his lap, glancing toward a window too covered in dust to see in or out of.
